Building a Community Against Eating Disorders

Who Am I?

Hey everyone! I’m Lily and I started this page for anyone and everyone who struggles with any type of eating disorder, body dysmorphia etc. The past couple years of my life have been characterized by a deep struggle with severe anorexia and a long, long recovery that is by no means done. Beginning in 8th grade I began to pick apart my body and cope with my growing insecurity with intense exercise and starvation. I was admitted to the hospital February 26th, 2024 due to my heart rate stopping, leaving me on the brink of death. Since then, it’s been a roaduphill, forcing my body and mind to work for each other to protect my wellbeing. In my sophomore year of high school, I began to think about what would have been helpful for me when I was at my most vulnerable (or honestly at anytime). Soon, I realized that relationship, open and honest relationship about the deepest scars I was hiding would have honestly saved so much hardship. So, I began this website – hoping to do just that!

Why is this important?

According to the National Association of Anorexia and Associated Disorders, there is on death every 52 minutes as a result of an eating disorder. Those who suffer with an eating disorder are around 11 times more likely to commit suicide than their peers. 77% of children and adolescents as young as 12 dislike their bodies. By 14, 60 -70% are trying to lose weight and only 20% of these adolescents seek treatment. these statistics are tragic and representative of a society that has completely corrupted how we see ourselves – our bodies, our relationship with food and exercise. Restrictive eating or intense hatred of image (and so much more) has been so normalized. The world needs change and it starts from the roots. Studies show that eating disorder patients who receive mentorship from peers who can relate report signifiant improvement and greater reduction in anxiety and body dissatisfaction. Forming a community dedicated to recovery for all is instrumental in saving the wellbeing, mental health and lives of so so many in need.

What is This?

As of right now, this is a website dedicated to building a community in which stories can be shared, relationships based on shared goals can be created and help and hope can be found. This page is for ALL – those who feel lost, those who feel they “aren’t sick enough”, those who just need a pick me up – everyone. Resources for immediate help are always prominent.
